A mentorship program
LET HER!
A grief support program for co-survivors of gun violence
You don't have to go through this alone...
Ladies Enduring Trauma Healing Emotionally Right-Now! aka LET HER! is a program by I Choose To Win to aid in grief support and healing for co-survivors of gun violence in the Philadelphia and Montgomery County areas. A “co-survivor of gun violence” generally refers to individuals who are indirectly but significantly impacted by the experience of gun violence, specifically in terms of the harm and trauma experienced by a loved one.
What it is . . .
Fostering Healing
LET HER! Is a NEW 24-week FREE mentorship program giving youth girls in Philadelphia and Montgomery County new experiences with adult mentors who will begin an adventure of exposure and exploration on their healing journeys. We’re fostering healing, conversation, connection and community-building through intentional and unconventional activities.
Program activities include weekend getaways or retreats, virtual and in-person group counseling and coaching, and in-person workshops in the following areas: hiking/walking, rowing/boating, dancing/learning choreography, creative expression (art, music, writing, reciting) and journaling. Each of these activities will be paired with trauma-informed care and personal challenges that seek to invite our youth to carefully express themselves, giving permission to feel, grieve, process and heal.
Who it's for...
Our Youth In need of Support
LET HER! Mentorship Program is designed for BIPOC girls ages 12–18 in Philadelphia and Montgomery Counties who are survivors or co-survivors of gun violence. It reflects both an acronym and a compassionate command—LET HER! stands for Ladies Enduring Trauma, Healing Emotionally Right-now!—and also calls us to let her feel, grieve, process, and heal. We are looking to offer support to loved ones, daughters, sisters, cousins, and close friends who are grieving the loss of their loved ones taken away due to gun violence.
This program is deeply personal for our founder. As a BIPOC woman, Philadelphia native, and co-survivor of gun violence who lost her father to murder while she was still a youth, she created LET HER! Mentorship Program to be the support she once needed. She understands firsthand the devastation of grief left unprocessed. So, LET HER! is not just a program—it is her lived experience turned into purpose and healing for the next generation.
What's unique about LET HER!
Adult & Youth Co-Survivors Partner Up
A core element of LET HER! is its intergenerational mentorship model, in which youth participants are paired with adult BIPOC women mentors who are also co-survivors. These mentors share their wisdom, lived experiences, and stories of overcoming. They do not serve as saviors, but as mirrors—offering reflections of what is possible when pain is named, honored, and transformed. This “each one, reach one, teach one” structure creates authentic connection and healing across generations, helping youth feel seen, understood, and powerfully supported.
The program includes:
Weekend trauma-informed wellness retreat(s)
12 weeks of creative, community-based healing workshops (e.g., hiking, art, dance, journaling, rowing, drumming, golfing)
12 weeks of virtual group counseling and emotional wellness sessions
Mentor training and support for adult women co-survivors
Direct services for BIPOC girls
Each space is intentionally designed to move participants from emotional states like fear, grief, and unworthiness toward deeper self-awareness, belonging, and hope. The integration of new, affirming experiences helps unlock dormant assets and build resilience through joy and discovery.
