On March 19, 2024, The Phenomenal Women Conference held at a local charter school, women from various careers came to campus to speak with students about their various careers. As an invited guest, Melonie Butler, brought the youth inspired book created by I Choose To Win’s youth authors to help students connect the power of activating their voices with building powerful narratives and courage to share them. After reading snippets of the book, we did a group improv activity where the students created imaginary characters to craft a story of community care and resilience. After this activity, the school Principal invited Melonie Butler back to be a keynote speaker for a future program held later in the year for high achieving students and their families.
