Thank you Our House!

A special thank you to Our House Culture Center (iloveourhouse.org) for being a space sponsor and hosting I Choose To Win’s Empowered Uth summer sessions at its 6380 Germantown Avenue location in Philadelphia, PA. It has been a treat watching the young ladies in Empowered Uth (empoweredUth.com) grow comfortable sharing their thoughts, perspectives, dreams and aspirations in a space that is so welcoming, open and comfortable. It has proven to be an asset in our program development lending us flexibility in the space where we’re able to set the room up differently for our guest speakers and for multiple activities. On behalf of I Choose To Win, its volunteers, participants and board members, we thank you for your generosity and support by opening the doors to Our House to us. It truly feels like it’s Our House!

Empowered Uth – Info Session June 16th

June 2018 — Empowered Uth will hold its first information session on Saturday, June 16, 2018 from 9 – 11 am at Our House Culture Center, 6380 Germantown Ave, Phila PA 19144. During this time, we will have I Choose To Win volunteers and program info available for parents and prospective participants to get to know the program, ask questions and discuss plans for the remaining 4-month program. Join us. If you have a 13-18 year-old young woman, please come out to learn about how we plan to empower the ideas, contributions, voices and thought-leadership of youth girls and teenagers in the areas of their gifts (strengths, talents, passion). We want these young ladies to possess a positive narrative about their life and their contributions in their communities, so they can be the game changers, difference makers and change agents the world needs. Through the Empowered Uth program, we aspire to teach vision board planning, activate use of their imagination, assess self-love and acceptance, evaluate love for others, explore gifts, strengths and talents, define for themselves what a winning life looks like and support at least one action item towards embarking upon it. With clearly defined action steps, we hope to make a positive difference in the lives of these young women, so they may be impactful in edifying and empowering their peers, building a sisterhood of women who win: lifting others as they climb. GOAL: We want each young lady to initiate ONE major action step aligned with her personal definition of winning.  Learn more at www.empoweredUth.com.

I’m Ready To Choose Conference – A WIN!

April 23, 2018 — Fort Washington, PA — I Choose To Win held its “I’m Ready To Choose” conference for women in periods of life transition, preparing to make a decision in favor of victorious living. At the Fort Washington Holiday Inn, event organizers, presenters and facilitators were joined by the women who registered, showed up and stated they were ready! Ready to uncover their issues, unveil their truths, unleash their gifts, to unlock their God-given potential. These women chose victory, hope, positive shifts, optimism on their journeys unique to them. The day consisted of six parts: Introspective Reflection Explore, Reveal and Heal Revisit our Narratives Redefining Winning Overcoming Obstacles and Investing in Me Action Planning Lengthier than traditional one-day events, the conference was held Saturday, April 21st, from 10 am – 5 pm. Interestingly enough, the 7-hour length did not deter those in the room from staying in the room for the duration. As the event organizer, Melonie Butler, explained at the onset of the conference, this is not a traditional conference. It was designed for the attendees to leave with “exactly what they needed” to begin their journey toward victorious living, including the time to process the information being shared. The day was designed to engage, dig deep, encourage self-reflection, identify obstacles, remove barriers, connect women who formerly felt alone and show parallels of our journeys for support, collaboration and a spirit of togetherness, though each path may lead to different destinations. Those who came, stayed until the end to absorb all of the conference offerings for their own benefit. The engagement, level of connection from woman-to-woman was real, genuine and authentic. The conversation and self-revelations, though shared, were encouraged to remain confidential as the organizers stressed this to be a safe place. More information about the conference and its outcomes will be available in the future. A special thank you to the following for making this event possible is extended to: Attendees, I Choose To Win, Banana Leaf Catering, Be Cubed Marketing Group, Bonefish Grill, Holiday Inn Fort Washington, Kai’s Cupcakes, Melonie Butler, Naima Cannedy, Zakiya Fatin, Stephanie Ford, Andrea Lawful Sanders and Jennifer Strickland.
