In 2022, several participants of the Empowered Uth program initiated and completed the launch of a new book project entitled, “Together, We Win!” The program sought to engage its participants in a creative project to help young girls engage in a conversation about self-love and self-care.
Empowered Uth is the program offered by I Choose To Win to help youth believe in their potential. We help them establish a vision of themselves doing something positive which requires use of their gifts/talents and help them achieve a goal, so they see themselves as capable, equipped and successful.
Participants, ranging in age from 8-11 years old, drafted character sketches and began the process of story development for the framework of the book. During the multi-week cohorts, each week the youth participants completed the story, which we edited and prepared for mock up. We sought to raise funds to take the book project to the next level of production, which was illustration and print. Our Giving Tuesday fundraiser raised enough funds for a small run of books for use later this year.
Books were delivered in January of 2023 and plan to be distributed to program participants at a future scheduled in-person Winning Workshop for youth girls. #ichoosetowin #empoweredUth
