Empowered Uth, a program brought by I Choose To Win and supported by Black Women Give, designed to reach Philly’s young women aged 13-18 to build confidence, improve self-esteem, upgrade self-narrative, plans to kick off May through September 2018. February 25, 2018 — Philadelphia, PA — Stratus Rooftop Lounge hosted I Choose To Win’s 3-year anniversary soiree, “Cheers to 3 Years,” on Thursday evening, February 22, 2018 as part of its 12 weeks of giving campaign. While guests joined together to celebrate this 3-year milestone, the event turned into an additional celebration as it was announced at the event that I Choose To Win had been named the inaugural grant recipient of the newly formed philanthropic organization, The Black Women Give Foundation (BWG). BWGive Board of Directors arrived to formally announce its decision to partially fund I Choose To Win’s 2018 Empowered Uth program through a generous $5,000 grant toward its launch and implementation. Empowered Uth is an initiative that seeks to empower the voices, ideas and thought-leadership of Philly’s young ladies in the areas of their gifts to realize their potential. “This generous gift enables us to reach these young ladies with a new narrative about themselves, a refreshed perspective about their purpose, power and potential,” exclaimed Melonie Butler, founder, I Choose to Win. “We aspire to teach vision board planning, activate use of their imagination, assess self-love and acceptance, evaluate love for others, explore gifts, strengths and talents, offer them a platform to be heard, have them define for themselves what a winning life looks like and support at least one action item toward embarking upon it.” In the exclusive private room, men and women, invited guests, supporters, donors and volunteers poured into the space in honor of the three-year impact I Choose To Win has had edifying, empowering and equipping women to win in life. To aid in celebration were Philly-based musicians, Christian and Shanae Tizon, of the band Beat Peace. Accompanying them was the captivating dancer, Kinese, providing a visual response to the melodic sounds. January 2018 — We are pleased to announce the beginning phases of development for the new video magazine we plan to launch in place of our print magazine, entitled ichoosetowin.tv. This online, video magazine will feature and showcase women who winning in life. It will tell the backstory of their decision-making and stories of overcoming as a means of encouragement and inspiration for those women who are on similar journeys. We are excited to transition to a new medium in sharing our messages that continue to carryout our mission, which is to edify, empower and equip women to win in life. January 20, 2018 – Philadelphia, PA – Women elected to gather and publicly proclaim a bold intention for the year at I Choose To Win’s 2018 Bold Intentions Conversation this past Saturday, January 20th at D-Hive. It was a pleasure to spend an afternoon in a meaningful way connecting people on mission to live a more authentic, engaged life. One-by-one, we each walked up to the podium with some measure of truth on our tongue about what we wanted to share, and we did just that. Without trying, it seemed as though the personal intentions we individually brought could be wrapped into a theme of “Authenticity!” Believing in ourselves, loving ourselves well, getting out of our own way, fully engaging life, cherishing the creation we are, honoring the truth of our stories, savoring present moments, and genuinely celebrating others. Not to mention the more tangible intentions to start a business and write a book. These are beautiful possibilities for all of us if we are, as we’ve collectively discussed, intentional about guarding and protecting our minds and hearts from limiting beliefs and negative thinking, which we expounded upon in great detail. I Choose to Win will host this fun, unique and special workshop on January 28, 2018 from 3-6 pm at D-Hive as part of its newly launched: Explore U! Led by facilitator Richii and shot by photographer Nikki Lenore, participants will embark upon a journey of self-exploration and self-love and appreciation immediately before a photographic application. Our participants will deliver the true essences of themselves as we explore the freedom and promise in being “Unapologetically Me!” Come prepare to fall in love with the person in your photos. During the Christmas Break, we take a moment to thank God for the many blessings He has bestowed upon each of us volunteers individually, and this organization collectively. We think on the true meaning of Christmas and pause for a moment to remind ourselves the reason for the season, so not to get too caught up into the materialistic holiday rush it has become.
